Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy back the items that I’m selling?2021-01-05T17:22:06-05:00

No, Scott gold is not a pawn shop, therefore, we are unable to sell you back the items that we purchase. We do not hold the licensing to be a pawn shop nor do we have a sales tax license to sell items to the public.

Can you match the price another store offered?2021-01-05T13:39:58-05:00

At times we can match prices but not always. Many of the other shops that buy silver and gold are also retail jewelry stores. Although they may not resell your items in a local store, many times, they purchase nice pieces from you, clean them up a bit, and resell them at retail prices which are significantly higher than the actual value of the item. We purchase items based on the actual value of the gold, silver, diamonds etc. and because we do not sell at retail prices there is a much smaller profit margin for us. Many places that can pay a higher price may give a portion of your funds in cash and the rest in either store credit or a check. Scott gold only pays cash!

Do you take pennies and nickels?2021-01-05T13:39:35-05:00

No, unfortunately, we do not have an outlet for pennies and nickels. We will purchase US dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars based on their silver content. US dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars 1964 and older are all composed of 90% silver. Half dollars between the years 1965 to 1969 are 40% silver. Many times, we can pay extra for Morgan and Peace dollars based on their quality.

I saw this item online for a higher price why can’t you pay that much?2021-01-05T13:39:07-05:00

When people sell items online they can ask any price they want. Just because they are asking it does not mean they are making it. Most times people will also ask for a premium on top of the spot price. Our prices are always based on the spot price at the time we are purchasing the item.

Do you buy flatware?2021-01-05T13:38:41-05:00

Yes, we will purchase flatware if it is clearly marked Sterling, .925, .900, or .800. If the item is not marked odds are it is most likely plated and therefore, we are unable to purchase it.

I purchased this item at a much higher price can you pay me close to that amount?2021-01-05T13:38:01-05:00

More than likely the answer to this question is no. Sadly, retail prices are marked up by a significant amount of money and your item is probably only worth about a quarter of what you paid for it. As mentioned before, our prices are based on the actual value of the gold, silver, diamonds, etc.

Can I buy gold and silver from you?2021-01-05T13:37:41-05:00

Since we do not have a sale tax license and we do not keep any inventory, we are not able to sell to the public.  If you are interested in purchasing gold and silver many times we can put you in connect with one of our trusted dealers.
